About Charter Catastrophe Services

Origin

In 1979 Charter Adjustment Company was formed during Hurricane Frederick by CEO Howard “Mickey” McGill to handle insurance claims for CNA, Nationwide, and AutoOwners insurance companies. During this time Charter was introduced to the National Flood Insurance Program and started handling claims through them. For the next ten years Charter handled everyday and catastrophe Homeowner and Flood claims for numerous companies across the United States.

In 1983 Charter handled flood claims in hurricane Alicia, in 1988 Charter handled flood claims for hurricane Gilbert, in 1989 Charter handled flood claims for hurricane Hugo, in 1992 Charter handled flood claims for hurricane Andrew.

At this point Charter Adjustment Company was heavily entrenched in the flood claims industry and decided to broaden and expand its operation. In October of 1995 two new corporations were formed and that gave birth to Charter Catastrophe Services Inc. and Charter Disaster Services inc.

In 1995 Charter Disaster Services, Inc. was opened for the sole purpose of acquiring government contracts dealing with catastrophes of any kind. In that same year CDS joint ventured with another firm on a project with FEMA to handle the Habitability contract. CDS worked hand in hand with FEMA during contract negotiations. During CDS’s contract tenure duties included providing training classes throughout the U.S. and Puerto Rico, supplying and managing over 1000 inspectors for the FEMA grant program, providing daily, weekly and monthly reports, as well as maintaining a current 1000 man inspector roster. During one task order from FEMA, CDS was responsible for providing inspections for 100,000 home in Puerto Rico.
